About the Event
Space is limited - reserve your spot!
Interested in serving Hapé to others? We have a facilitation workshop planned for the Spring, but it will be limited to those who have first taken our self-administration class. Sign up today to ensure you meet the requirements for our future workshop!
We get so many questions about our use of sacred tobacco snuff, known as Hapé/Rapé, and particularly a high interest in people feeling ready to learn how to self-administer. We are excited to once again be holding this workshop to guide others through the sacred ritual of using Hapé, which brings alignment and deep grounding to the body, mind, and soul. In this class, we will cover:
what is Hapé, and what does it do?
contraindications of Hapé and when to be concerned
tools for administration and how to clean and care for them
sources to purchase from and how to store
frequency of use and dosage recommendations
how to use your breath to administer
preparation of your body, setting an intention
how to self-administer Hapé with a guided in-person practice in ritual form
tips for aftercare
You will receive a wooden kuripé to use at the workshop and take home. Or bring your own for a discounted ticket price. Hapé will be provided for the guided practice. A tobacco-free option will be available as well. Please bring a water bottle. We recommend a gentle fasting period of 1-2 hours before using Hapé, although this is not required.
Although hapé is a sacred medicine, it is not appropriate for everyone. Caution and discernment should always be practiced.
Hapé should be avoided or used only under close guidance by those who:
Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Have high blood pressure or heart conditions
Have a history of seizures or severe neurological disorders
Are prone to chronic nosebleeds, nasal injuries, or sinus infections
Have glaucoma (intraocular pressure may temporarily increase)
Are currently intoxicated or under the influence of other narcotics/substances
Are in a highly dissociative or unstable mental health state (it can be grounding, but it may also bring up strong emotions)
Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns about your ability to take part in this workshop.
The cost of the workshop covers supplies and includes a donation to the church as we continue to fundraise for upcoming needs. All payments will be non-refundable due to us purchasing supplies in advance and limiting space. If you end up not being able to make the event due to sickness, schedule conflicts, etc. we will save your kuripé for you to pick up at a later time.
For ages 21+. ID’s will be checked for all non-members. Refunds are not given to anyone who registers and breaches this rule or does not have an ID.
Location Details:
This event will be held at HeartSpace, a community yurt. GPS will guide you to the home at the end of the street (street parking is available). There is some directional signage for "Heartspace" around the house and garage which lead you through the garage, up the stairs, and to the back of the home where the yurt is. Please note that due to the stairs, the space is not wheelchair accessible. If you have any issues finding the event location, please call or text 509-742-0194 BEFORE the start time. After this time, the phone will be silenced in respect for the circle.
